ORGANIZATIONAL UPDATES

Welcome and thanks for being here.  We are excited to announce the unveiling of The Sowing Room, planting the seeds of inclusive communities.

The Sowing Room is seeking nonprofit status 501(c)3 to continue the important work led by Region Five Development Commission since 2017.

The importance of building inclusive, connected communities was amplified in 2020 with the pandemic and the murder of George Floyd.

The Sowing Room seeks to break down barriers and build bridges in our rural Minnesota places and spaces.

Working to improve physical and psychological safety

In partnership with the Nonviolent Peaceforce, workshops, community conversations and complexity buddy opportunities will be offered in preparation for the Brainerd Lakes Pride weekend and the 2024 election.  Identifying potential threats, opening “windows of tolerance” and practicing de-escalation techniques will be covered.  Keep updated on opportunities on our website and Facebook page
